Irene Pinedo Pascua got her BA in Geography at Leeds University (2000, UK) and at Cantabria University (Spain, 2001). After several internships in the GIS departments of private companies and governmental research centers, she won a PhD fellowship at the Renewable Energies Division of the CIEMAT (Madrid, Spain). Since 2010, Irene works at the Renewable Energy Unit of the Institute for Energy and Transport of the European Commission's Joint Research Centre. She is part of the team in charge of the AFRETEP project, whose overall objective is to contribute to understand the potential for renewable energy options in Africa for increased access to electrification in rural areas.
